According to a report by Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of Harry Kane. And the Real Madrid manager wanted Los Blancos to sign the Tottenham Hotspur striker this summer. But the Merengues have turned down the Italian tactician’s pleas to sanction a move.
Harry Kane is one of the best players in the world, with his stock skyrocketing in the past decade. The 30-year-old took some time to get going but has not looked back since establishing a foothold at Tottenham Hotspur. And he has broken many records for his club and country in the last few years.
The English international is the all-time leading scorer for the Three Lions and Tottenham. And Kane was on the money last season, even as Tottenham struggled for relevance. He amassed 32 goals and six assists in 48 appearances in all competitions. But the player’s future is uncertain after entering the final year of his contract.
Recent reports have heavily linked Kane with Bayern Munich in the last few weeks. And the Bundesliga champions have offered a nine-figure sum to secure his services this summer. But the England captain could have been an option for Real Madrid had Carlo Ancelotti had his way.
The Italian tactician requested Real Madrid to pursue Kane’s signature in the ongoing transfer window. And while Los Blancos briefly considered signing the 30-year-old, they have cooled their interest in him. So despite Ancelotti’s pleas, the Tottenham striker is not an option to bolster the Real Madrid squad.
Kane’s qualities could have made him the perfect short-term replacement for Karim Benzema. But with Real Madrid preferring a 2024 move for Kylian Mbappe, the Tottenham talisman’s name fell out of favour. And Los Blancos will head into the 2023/24 season with Joselu and Rodrygo Goes as Ancelotti’s striker options.
