Real Madrid will reportedly look to replace disgruntled 24-year-old goalkeeper Andriy Lunin with his compatriot Anatoliy Trubin.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Anatoliy Trubin is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues consider the 22-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper as a replacement for Andriy Lunin. And the disgruntled 24-year-old shot-stopper might leave Los Blancos this summer.

Anatoliy Trubin is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the world. The Ukrainian international started his youth career at Azovstal-2 Mariupol but made considerably more progress after joining Shakhtar Donetsk in 2014. And he has come leaps and bounds at his current club in the past decade.

The 22-year-old made his first-team debut for Shakhtar Donetsk as a prodigious 17-year-old in May 2019. And Trubin has come leaps and bounds since then, making nearly 100 appearances while keeping an impressive 39 clean sheets. And the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

Recent reports have heavily linked the young goalkeeper with Inter Milan. But a move to San Siro might not be on the cards, with Yann Sommer on the verge of joining the Nerazzurri. So Real Madrid might have an opportunity to pounce and secure Trubin’s services in the ongoing transfer window.

Andriy Lunin faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid after growing increasingly disgruntled over a lack of game time. The 24-year-old has mainly featured for Los Blancos in cup competitions. And he has only managed appearances in La Liga and UEFA Champions League when Thibaut Courtois is injured.

With the Belgian goalkeeper headed nowhere, it makes sense for Lunin to consider leaving Real Madrid. And the 24-year-old might make way for his 22-year-old compatriot. Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk will look to recoup €10-15 million from Trubin’s sale. But Real Madrid will hope to finalise a deal for around €10 million.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk share a healthy working relationship. With Los Blancos already signing Vinicius Tobias from the Ukrainian club, negotiations over Trubin might not last long. And it will be interesting to see if the 22-year-old replaces his disgruntled compatriot at the Santiago Bernabeu.
