West Ham United are keen on having Edson Alvarez in their ranks and have managed to agree on personal terms with the Mexican midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United are pushing for the signatures of Edson Alvarez. The Hammers have started negotiating with Dutch club Ajax over a potential deal for the 25-year-old Mexican international.

West Ham parted ways with Declan Rice earlier in the transfer window. The England international was keen on joining a bigger club, and the Hammers did not stand in his way. He ended up joining Arsenal in what was a big-money move.

Rice’s departure has left a huge void in the centre of the park. The Hammers are working to sign multiple midfielders to ensure they have enough depth to avoid another relegation battle. West Ham might have won the UEFA Conference League last time out, but they were not at their best in the Premier League.

The Hammers somehow avoided relegation from the English top flight. And, they do not intend on having a similar situation next season. As a result, they are trying to use the funds raised by the departure of their skipper to strengthen their squad.

While they have been pushing for multiple players, the Hammers are yet to sign a player in the ongoing transfer window. With the season starting in a week’s time, they are going all out to land their first signing. And, Ajax’s defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez is on their radar.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks at América before making the move to the Dutch club in the summer of 2019. He has since gone from strength to strength. And, the Ajax midfielder is currently an important part of their first team.

The Mexican international has all the qualities to help them cope with the absence of Rice. As a result, the Hammers are pushing hard for his signatures. They were in talks with the player’s representatives of late and have managed to reach an agreement on personal terms with the player.

With Alvarez keen on making the move to England, it is up to the clubs now. Both the clubs are expected to be involved in negotiations over the weekend, and we should have an update regarding his future very soon.
