Burnley are interested in acquiring the services of 20-year-old Manchester United full-back Alvaro Fernandez on loan.
According to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, Burnley are keen on acquiring a new left-sided full-back in the ongoing transfer window. Vincent Kompany wants to ensure he has enough depth in the left-back position, and he has his eyes set on Manchester United prospect Alvaro Fernandez.
Alvaro Fernandez came through the ranks at Real Madrid’s youth academy before joining Manchester United in the summer of 2020. He has since gone from strength to strength and has managed to make his way to the first team. However, the youngster is yet to make his debut.
The 20-year-old was sent out on loan to Preston North End last season. The Spain Under-19 star did an exceptional job while on loan at the Championship club. He was involved in a total of 42 matches in all competitions and managed to perform on a consistent basis.
The former Real Madrid full-back has returned to his parent club and was a part of their squad for the USA tour. The 20-year-old managed to put in some impressive performances and even contributed with an assist in the match against Wrexham.
While he has been doing wonders of late, the Spanish youth international is unlikely to get much game time at Manchester United. As a result, another loan move could be on the cards. Meanwhile, Burnley are pushing for the signatures of the 20-year-old full-back.
They are in desperate need of a new full-back after last season’s loanee Ian Maatsen returned to Chelsea. While they want to bring back the Dutchman at the club, it looks unlikely as Chelsea are not ready to let him leave.
As a result, Burnley are now pushing for the signatures of the Manchester United defender. Kompany is keen on having him in his ranks as he looks to survive in the Premier League after gaining promotion with impressive performances in the Championship last season.

The 20-year-old’s arrival will surely help the cause of the Clarets. As a result, they are pushing for his signatures but it will be interesting to see if they can convince Manchester United on a loan move. Burnley have also shown interest in another United prospect, Amad Diallo. But a summer move is unlikely after he picked up an injury during the pre-season campaign.
