Burnley and Sheffield United are both keen on taking Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo on loan

According to Football Insider, Premier League newcomers Burnley and Sheffield United are both keen to take Manchester United sensation Amad Diallo on loan.

The youngster arrived from Atalanta in 2021 in a deal worth €40 million including add-ons and has since made nine appearances for the club across all competitions. In that time, he has scored one goal and made one assist. While the numbers might not be too prolific, Diallo remains a player whose stock is on the rise.

Diallo spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at Rangers. While he did have his moments, a lack of consistency was particularly infuriating. However, his stint at Sunderland in 2022/23 was another matter.

The Ivory Coast international made 39 Championship appearances, scoring 14 goals and making four assists at the Stadium of Light last season. Unfortunately it was not enough to take the side back to the Premier League as they failed to negotiate the play-offs.

However, despite the disappointment, Diallo saw his reputation soar. Sunderland remain open to taking the player back on loan, with newly-relegated Southampton and Leeds United also keen. With Diallo unlikely to enjoy the same minutes under Erik ten hag at Old Trafford, another loan spell will certainly boost his development.

Burnley and Sheffield are both keeping tabs on the payer and could give him the opportunity to test himself in the top flight on a weekly basis. Vincent Kompany has brought in a new philosophy at Turf Moor and could provide Diallo with the opportunity to take his game to the next level.

The same can be said of the Blades, now led by Paul Heckingbottom. Which of the two sides will suit the youngster better is something Manchester United will have to decide.

Manchester United will do well to ensure that Diallo is still a year or two away from becoming a potential senior squad regular. Having him stay in the Premier League will certainly be the best foot forward for the club to monitor his progress and evaluate how best to aid his development.

There is no shortage of options for the Ivory Coast star and where exactly he ends up remains to be seen. Given his potential, it makes sense for the Red Devils to consider only a loan deal without the prospect of a permanent sale.
