Tottenham Hotspur are considering signing 30-year-old Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku on loan before the start of next season.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for life without Harry Kane. Their star striker could be parting ways with the club in the ongoing window. As a result, they are considering signing Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea.
Bayern Munich are keen on having Harry Kane in their ranks ahead of next season. The German giants’ target heading into this transfer window was to sign a new number nine, and they have pushing for Kane’s signatures throughout the summer.
While multiple bids from the German club have already been rejected by Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern are still confident about striking a deal for his services. There is a difference of around £20 million between the two clubs.
However, recent reports suggest that both parties could reach a common ground soon and the England international could leave Spurs. Kane is the highest goal scorer in the history of Spurs and his departure will leave a huge void in their attack. As a result, the London club have started planning for life without the 30-year-old.
Ange Postecoglou’s priority was to sign Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi. But, that is unlikely to happen after the 28-year-old Japanese forward penned down a new deal with his club. According to the Australian manager, Lukaku is another player that could help them cope with the absence of Kane.
He believes the 30-year-old Chelsea forward could be a great short-term fix. He has the experience of playing in the Premier League, and he won’t require any time to settle in. On top of that, the Belgian international was in fine form last season during his loan stint at Inter Milan.
As a result, Postecoglou wants Spurs to push for the 30-year-old if Kane ends up leaving the club. While Tottenham are prepared to use Richarlison as their first-choice striker in the absence of the England international, they have Lukaku as an alternative.
The London club are prepared to sign him on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. Spurs are prepared to put forward a salary of £300,000 per week to convince the Belgian international about the move. Meanwhile, the player is looking for a long-term deal worth £400,000 per week.
