Serie A outfit Salernitana are reportedly hoping to sign 19-year-old Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos this summer.

According to a report from Tutto Salernitana, Serie A outfit Salernitana have identified Andrey Santos as one of their main targets for the ongoing transfer window. The 19-year-old Brazilian midfielder might leave Chelsea on loan this summer.

Salernitana are looking to bring in midfield reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes and are keeping tabs on the Juventus midfielder Fabio Miretti as well. It will be interesting to see if they can agree on a deal with Chelsea for the 19-year-old.

Andrey Santos joined Chelsea during the January transfer window and he is highly rated at Stamford Bridge. Recent reports have also linked the Chelsea wonderkid with other clubs, including Barcelona.

The talented midfielder has impressed during the pre-season as well, and it will be interesting to see if Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to give him first-team opportunities next season. Santos needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. And if Chelsea cannot provide him with the platform then a loan move would be ideal for him.

Salernitana need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and Santos could be a useful option for them on a loan transfer. It would be a cheap acquisition for the Serie A club, and the player would get ample first-team experience as well. The move would make sense for all parties.

Meanwhile, Chelsea need to bring in more quality and depth in the central midfield after the departures of Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante. Enzo Fernandez and Connor Gallagher are the only reliable midfielders at the club right now, and the Blues have been trying to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Chelsea might need to bring in multiple midfielders before the summer transfer window closes, and it remains to be seen whether they’re ready to let go of Santos before bringing in adequate replacements.

Chelsea had a disappointing campaign last year, and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly and secure their place in the Champions League once again. They need a deeper squad with more quality in order to break through into the top four next season.
