RB Leipzig recently offered 20-year-old former Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba to Real Madrid, but a move is unlikely.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Ilaix Moriba does not have a future at RB Leipzig. And the Bundesliga giants have offered the former Barcelona midfielder to several clubs. Real Madrid will also have the opportunity to secure the services of the 20-year-old, although a summer move is unlikely.

It was not long ago that Ilaix Moriba was on top of the world, ready to embark on a long and fruitful career. The Guinean international began his youth career at Espanyol before joining Barcelona in 2010. And after rising through the ranks in La Masia, he made his first-team debut for Barcelona in January 2021.

The 20-year-old was a regular in the second half of the 2020/21 season and made 18 appearances for Barcelona. But Moriba’s stint at Camp Nou ended in August 2021, as he was not ready to sign a new contract with the Blaugrana. And the youngster joined RB Leipzig, looking to embark on an adventure in the Bundesliga.

Interestingly, Real Madrid wanted to complete a controversial move for Moriba when he decided to leave Barcelona. But Los Blancos lost the race to secure the services of the then-highly-rated midfield prospect. And the transfer to RB Leipzig has not worked out, and he has managed only six appearances for the German club.

Moriba returned to La Liga in January 2022 and spent the last 18 months on loan with Valencia. But he was in and out of the starting lineup at the Mestalla, with Los Che’s unstable situation not helping his cause. Now back at RB Leipzig this summer, the youngster’s future is uncertain. And the Bundesliga clubs are offering him to clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.

The report also mentions that Real Madrid considered an audacious move for Moriba when he left Barcelona. And the 20-year-old will likely turn out for Real Madrid Castilla if he joins the Spanish club. But the update by Defensa Central suggests a summer move is unlikely.

While Real Madrid Castilla might lose Sergio Arribas amid links with Bayer Leverkusen, a deal for Moriba might not see the light of day. And with the former Barcelona midfielder not in Marco Rose’s plans, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for him.
