Chelsea are willing to listen to loan offers for Trevoh Chalobah in the coming days, as there is interest from English and Italian clubs.

According to Rudy Galetti, Trevoh Chalobah could leave Chelsea on loan this summer, with the club open to offers. The 24-year-old academy graduate does not have a regular place in the squad, and his position became vulnerable with the arrival of Axel Disasi.

Chelsea are active in the market as they could yet conduct tremendous business before the window draws close. Central defensive reinforcements were not considered a priority until the last few days’ events. They had thought about strengthening the backline of Levi Colwill’s departed, but that may no longer happen.

However, the serious injury sustained by Wesley Fofana made Chelsea change their ideas for the defence and dip into the market for an immediate replacement. They generally had depth problems on the right side of the central defence, considering they played a back three previously.

However, with the agreement for Axel Disasi from Monaco, Chelsea swiftly addressed the loss of Fofana and found a replacement. Hence, they are now open to letting Trevoh Chalobah leave on loan, with the 24-year-old academy graduate now way down the pecking order.

Chalobah has a long-term contract until 2028 with Chelsea, and the club are in no rush to permanently sell their 24-year-old academy graduate. They might still consider a future for the defender at Stamford Bridge, as he can replace Thiago Silva when he hangs up his boots.

Chalobah has sufficient interest from Premier League and Serie A clubs, with Chelsea even holding talks with Inter Milan a while ago. Other Italian clubs like AS Roma and AC Milan are in the chase, but so far, no decision has been made.

Then there is the idea of remaining in England and continuing in the Premier League. Some clubs could make a late swoop, albeit on loan for the 24-year-old, if they lose their current stars. For instance, Crystal Palace could have a requirement if Marc Guehi ends up leaving.

Similarly, many other clubs could look at Chalobah, and his experience in the league would hold massive value. He may still play games at Chelsea if the 24-year-old decides to stay, but certainly not as a preferred starter as things stand.

In truth, Chelsea must ensure they have good depth in the right side of central defence and possibly keep Chalobah. However, Mauricio Pochettino has played a back four from their pre-season tour, which could make the 24-year-old surplus to requirements, especially if Reece James can play in central defence whenever needed.
