Arsenal and Liverpool are set to fight it out for Eintracht Frankfurt star Jesper Lindstrom

According to Ekstra Bladet (h/t Sport Witness), Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool are both keeping close tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt star Jesper Lindstrom in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Bundesliga giants want €35-40 million to part ways with the Dane.

Both clubs have made significant additions to their rosters this summer, but there is still pace for a few more. Ensuring no stone is left unturned will be key as they seek to chase down Manchester City next season.

23-year-old Lindstrom is a promising talent and caught the eye at Danish side Brondy where he made his senior bow. He moved to the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021 and has since gone from strength to strength.

An attacking midfielder who is also capable of playing on the left or as a second striker, Lindstrom’s versatility makes him a solid addition to either Premier League side. A capable assist-getter and goalscorer, the Danish star ticks all the boxes when it comes to a modern-day number 10.

Lindstrom is a good dribbler with a keen eye for a pass. He thrives while playing on the counter-attack and could open up opposition defences with ease. This makes him a good fit for Liverpool who often pace forward on the break and can do with a playmaker pulling the strings.

Jurgen Klopp has added two key players to his squad in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai but could do with a few more. While a new number 10 is needed, bringing in another attacking midfielder might not be a priority unless they can also play in central midfield.

While Lindstrom would be a solid addition to the roster at Anfield, he is far from a priority given the lack of depth in other core areas. Martin Odegaard is the number 10 at Arsenal, and a move to the Emirates is unlikely to get Lindstrom a starting XI spot off the bat either.

A price of around €35-40million should be enough to land the Danish star. But a bidding war would very well raise the roof for Frankfurt. With several other clubs such as Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, RB Leipzig, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli all interested, that might just prove to be the case.
