Burnley are looking to sign 23-year-old Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

According to The Mirror via HITC, Burnley are keen on having Albert Sambi Lokonga in their ranks ahead of next season. The 23-year-old Arsenal midfielder could be on his way to the newly-promoted Premier League club, who are looking to put up a show in the Premier League next season.

Lokonga came through the ranks at Anderlecht and joined Arsenal back in the summer of 2021. Over the past two seasons, he has featured in a total of 39 matches for the Gunners. The majority of his appearances have come off the bench, and he has not had the desired impact.

With things not working for the 23-year-old at Arsenal, he was sent out on a short six-month loan towards the end of last season. Lokonga joined Crystal Palace for the second half of the 2022/23 season but all he could manage was a total of nine appearances.

While the former Anderlecht midfielder has returned to his parent club, his future is uncertain. Mikel Arteta cannot really assure him about an important in his first team next season. And as a result, he is ready to let him leave the club. The Gunners are ready to send him out on a season-long loan.

Meanwhile, Burnley are interested in acquiring the services of the 23-year-old. After a sensational season in the Championship, Vincent Kompany’s team have managed to gain promotion to the English top flight. And, they are looking to make necessary changes to ensure they can survive in the Premier League.

Kompany is looking to bolster his midfield. The former Manchester City defender wants to have quality depth in the centre of the park to ensure his team can continue playing the free-flowing game. And, he believes Lokonga could be a great addition to his ranks.

The 23-year-old has played under Kompany back in the day while he was at Anderlecht. The Burnley boss is well aware of his abilities and now wants him in his ranks once again. With the player unlikely to get the desired minutes at Arsenal, there is a real possibility of Lokonga reuniting with his former boss.
