Tottenham are keen on Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel and could ask for the 18-year-old as part of the Harry Kane deal.
According to The Guardian, Tottenham have set their sights on Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel as a possible addition to their attacking setup. The 18-year-old Bundesliga attacking sensation may not come across as a direct replacement for Harry Kane, but Spurs might ask for him as part of the deal.
The Harry Kane saga could enter a significant period next week when Tottenham will listen to another offer from Bayern Munich. The two sides have not reached a consensus for the England captain, as Spurs have already rejected two solid bids from the Bavarians.
The two sides had scheduled a fresh round of talks on Friday, which has since postponed to next week. There’s no indication that Bayern will cool their pursuit of the 30-year-old. Instead, they are ready to step up the chase with a third offer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham were also made aware of Kane’s decision not to sign a new lucrative deal presented by the club. He could now start pushing for a move to Bayern Munich, which could change the course of negotiations for Spurs.
Tottenham must replace Kane with another top-draw name. There are specific targets like Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, among others. Ivan Toney also saw his name linked with a move, but nothing on that front has moved an inch forward.
Now, the report insists Tottenham could ask Bayern Munich for Mathys Tel as part of the Kane deal. The 18-year-old Bundesliga attacking sensation had a productive first season with the club and scored five goals. The Bavarians consider him a big part of their future, which could scupper Tottenham’s hopes.
However, recent comments from Thomas Tuchel indicated Bayern could open their doors for business. He said, “He’s a great guy. He’s fighting for his chance. There are no other thoughts yet and Choupo-Moting remains injured. If at all we think about it very late in this transfer window.”
Whether they want to risk their striker depth by selling Tel remains the question, but what would that say about investing in young talents? Many fans of Bayern do not want to see the 18-year-old leave but could agree on a loan move to gain experience.
Irrespective of Tottenham’s interest in Tel, any move will depend on the 18-year-old wanting to leave Bayern for north London. One cannot comment if this move could materialise, as plenty of underlying complications exist.
