According to Brazilian outlet Bolavip, Newcastle United are eyeing a potential summer transfer for promising Flamengo midfielder Victor Hugo. And they are expected to table an opening bid worth €24 million in the coming days.
The 19-year-old central midfielder only broke into the Flamengo senior setup last year, but could soon be in line for his big move to Europe. Despite his tender years, he has made a big impact and established himself as a regular starter in Jorge Sampaoli’s side. He has already made 63 appearances for Flamengo’s first team and grabbed six goals in that time.
Hugo’s meteoric rise and growing reputation in South America have not gone unnoticed in Europe, earning him links to Real Madrid and Barcelona in recent times. Brazilian outlet Bolavip, though, suggests it’s Newcastle who are prepared to make an offer for the teenage sensation before the competition actually arrives.

It is evident that he possesses the potential to develop into a quality central midfielder. He is the archetypal Brazilian midfielder, with bundles of technical ability and excellent close control coupled with good passing range.
