Manchester United could consider the reported interest from Serie A in former captain Harry Maguire, who could only offer loan deals.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Harry Maguire has garnered tremendous interest from Serie A giants. The Milan clubs, Roma, Juventus, and Napoli, are all keen on the Manchester United star. The club could consider a move if they cannot find an English suitor.
Manchester United have not focused on bringing in a new defender in this window, although that could change as the market progresses. Erik ten Hag does not view Harry Maguire as a starter for the club, and last season’s use of Luke Shaw in central areas showed the England international is further down the pecking order.
Maguire has two years left on his deal, with Manchester United reportedly seeking a huge sum for his transfer. No English side have come forward with offers close to the £50 million figure demanded by the Red Devils, which could force Ten Hag could keep him at Old Trafford.
West Ham held an interest but did not propose anything close to what Manchester United wanted. A move to the London stadium could yet develop, but nothing in the coming days or weeks. The Hammers like Maguire but will not pay over the odds for the 30-year-old Manchester United star.
Meanwhile, Tottenham could also press ahead with signing the defender if they cannot complete moves for their priority targets. That includes Edmond Tapsoba or Micky van de Ven from the Bundesliga or Victor Nelsson of Galatasaray.

The only issue is their ability to pay large sums, although one could take Maguire off Manchester United’s books for now. As Italian clubs have operated, they could offer a loan deal with an option to buy the 30-year-old next summer.
In creating space in the squad and the wage bill for possibly a new defender, Ten Hag might reluctantly approve of a move to Italy. However, Maguire might prefer to stay put in England, particularly when his place in the England Euro 2024 squad becomes the question.
There isn’t a chance we consider loaning him without an obligation to buy. At his age, without a sale agreed it is just losing value.
