La Liga club Osasuna will reportedly look to sign Barcelona’s January signing Julian Araujo in the ongoing transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Julian Araujo is the subject of interest from Osasuna. The Mexican international does not feature in reigning La Liga champions Barcelona’s plans for the 2023/24 season. And the Pamplona-based club will look to secure his services on loan this summer.

Julian Araujo spent his formative years with several American outfits. He passed through the academies at four clubs, including Barcelona’s USA-based division. But after graduating from the LA Galaxy setup, the 21-year-old gradually rose in prominence at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

Meanwhile, the Mexican international represented the USA in age-group football before choosing to turn out for El Tri at the senior level. And he made over 100 appearances for LA Galaxy, chipping in with two goals and 14 assists. But Araujo’s time at the Major League Soccer club ended in the winter transfer window this year.

Barcelona showed interest in the young full-back after parting ways with Hector Bellerin. And as the January transfer window drew to a close, the Blaugrana firmed up the interest in Araujo. The move finally materialised in February after FIFA blocked the move for Barcelona. However, Araujo has yet to make his debut for Barcelona.

The youngster has been on the fringes of the Barcelona first team. And widespread reports have claimed that he does not feature in the reigning La Liga champions’ plans for the 2023/24 season. So it behoves Barcelona to loan him out for the upcoming campaign. And UD Las Palmas and Osasuna are keen on signing him.

The latter is the latest suitor in Araujo’s pursuit. And considering the Rojillos play in La Liga, the 21-year-old should ideally benefit from moving to El Sadar this summer. With Ruben Pena on the wrong side of 30, the Barcelona outcast might get his opportunities in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the Blaugrana will not block a summer move for Araujo if they can get him a good opportunity. And playing regular first-team football at another club should aid Araujo’s progress. So it will be interesting to see if a summer move to Osasuna sees the light of day for the Mexican international.
