Manchester United have submitted a verbal offer for Rasmus Hojlund totalling €60 million, including add-ons, but Atalanta hold out for €70 million.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Manchester United have submitted a €60 million verbal offer for Rasmus Hojlund. The proposal includes €10 million in add-ons, but Atalanta are holding out for €70 million to sell their striker.

Manchester United have talked things steadily in this transfer window. They seemed to have banished the ghosts of the past, where they used brash tactics to get their preferred targets. This time, the Red Devils are not willing to overpay and conduct thorough negotiations with clubs for major signings.

Mason Mount was a clear example, as was Andre Onana, as both clubs quoted high prices for those stars. Similarly, they take things as they come with Atalanta for striker Rasmus Hojlund. Having broadly agreed on personal terms with the 20-year-old earlier this month, Manchester United are advancing in talks with his club.

There were rumblings of a bid planned by the club for the striker. The suggestions pointed towards Manchester United’s eagerness to pay around €60 million for the Dane. They have made a verbal offer to Atalanta amounting to €50 million in fixed fees and a further €10 million in add-ons.

With the total coming to €60 million, Atalanta are ready to squeeze more from Manchester United. The Serie A side are holding out for €70 million to let their 16-goal star leave after a productive first season in Italy. The Red Devils are optimistic about signing the Danish striker but must show patience in negotiating with Atalanta.

They had reportedly considered other options in Randal Kolo Muani and even midfielder Mohammed Kudus. Erik ten Hag may have felt Hojlund fits their style better and now pushes to get the Danish star over the line. Moreover, Atalanta also rejected the idea of a part-exchange, which Manchester United had reportedly proposed earlier.

Negotiations will continue between the two sides in the coming days, with Manchester United keen to wrap up this signing soon. There’s also some interest from PSG, who are in the market for a new striker following their controversial debacle with Kylian Mbappe.

However, Manchester United don’t seem bothered by PSG’s interest, as they know the player’s intentions. The deal may take a bit longer to conclude. The questions will circle the Red Devils and how much they would pay for Hojlund.

If the Atalanta management don’t have to sell the player they should forget it, at least is the one year he has spent in Italy
