Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Sergio Arribas, with Xabi Alonso keen on the deal.
According to Rodra and Sergio Santos, Sergio Arribas is the subject of interest from Bayer Leverkusen. Xabi Alonso wants the Bundesliga giants to land the 21-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. And the Bundesliga giants have already contacted Real Madrid for the young midfield prospect.
Sergio Arribas has been with Real Madrid for over a decade, arriving from CD Leganes in July 2012. Since then, the Spaniard has come leaps and bounds, rising through the ranks at La Fabrica before establishing himself as a pivotal figure for Real Madrid Castilla. And he has been a prolific performer for the reserve team.
The 21-year-old was excellent for Real Madrid Castilla last season, amassing 21 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances. But Arribas might feel he has reached the end of the line at Real Madrid Castilla. And as he looks to embark on a first-team adventure, several clubs are ready to secure his services in the ongoing transfer window.
Recent reports have linked the Spanish midfield prospect with several La Liga clubs, including Sevilla. But widespread suggestions pointed to Girona being in the pole position to land the young midfielder. However, with Real Madrid demanding €10 million for 50 per cent of Arribas’s rights, many suitors have ended their interest in him.
Bayer Leverkusen might be ready to offer him regular first-team football in the 2023/24 season. Xabi Alonso is an admirer of the youngster’s talents. And he has asked the Bundesliga giants to launch the offensive for the Real Madrid Castilla midfielder in the ongoing transfer window.
The report claims that Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid are in contact over a possible move for the 21-year-old. While the Bundesliga giants have already bolstered their midfield unit by signing Granit Xhaka, they still want another midfielder. Arribas has thus emerged as a viable target for Die Werkself.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen might not be the only Bundesliga club pursuing Arribas. Recent reports have also linked Borussia Dortmund with the 21-year-old Spaniard. And it will be interesting to see if Xabi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen succeed in securing Arribas’s services this summer.
