Arsenal are inching closer to signing Brazilian midfield talent Bitello from Gremio, with the Gunners set to pay around €8 million.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal are set to sign Gremio midfielder Bitello for €8 million, with the transfer expected to conclude shortly. Mikel Arteta won’t see the 23-year-old South American ace a readymade starter just yet, meaning the midfielder may have to bide his time, possibly even go out on loan.

Since the double signing of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber right before the pre-season tour of the US began, Arsenal have gone quiet in the transfer market. Mikel Arteta remains pleased after concluding the important transfer business early in the window, thus allowing the club to focus on sales.

Arsenal have a few important players that can fetch them considerably in this window. Those include Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun, with both linked with moves away. Meanwhile, the Gunners are possibly looking to bring new attacking talent in, with links to Michael Olise and Mohammed Kudus.

Other than that, Arteta could look to sign a new midfielder, but he may wait for the market to evolve. He likes Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, but the duo are a bit expensive for the Spaniard’s taste. Those moves could still happen, but the Gunners may need to raise cash after spending over €200 million on three players.

Meanwhile, they are actively looking to recruit lesser-known talents from elsewhere and may have stuck a deal with Gremio for Bitello. The 23-year-old South American ace has impressed Arsenal’s scouts, who had watched him for some time.

The Gunners had reportedly opened talks with Gremio, who wanted €10 million for the 23-year-old midfielder. As per the report, Arsenal may have agreed on a deal worth €8 million that could see the midfielder travel to England and complete the move.

The chatter about the same in the English media has been less, but the report comes from Italian sources. However, Bitello may not come in as a readymade starter under Arteta and will have to bide his time. The Gunners may also send the 23-year-old out on loan to help him acclimate to European conditions and decide on the next course of action.
