Tottenham set to submit bid for Tosin Adarabioyo

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly all set to submit a formal bid for the services of Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who is understood to be keen on joining Spurs.

According to Football.London, there is now a growing expectation that Tottenham Hotspur will launch an offer for Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who has just one year left on his contract at Craven Cottage.

Ange Postecoglou is expected to reshape his squad over the coming weeks after already bringing in the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon through the door earlier in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham desperately need defensive reinforcements and have been heavily linked with moves for Bundesliga duo Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven. Much to the chagrin of Spurs fans, the club are yet to secure any of the aforementioned targets to bolster the centre-back area, which was a problem area last season, despite the fact that the new season begins in less than three weeks.

With the Lilywhites trying to bring in a defender as quickly as possible, it may force them to launch an opening bid for Adarabioyo before other suitors make moves of their own. The Fulham defender remains high on Tottenham’s list of potential centre-back signings and would be open to the idea of moving to north London.

Since joining Fulham for £1.4 million in 2020, the former Manchester City academy product has made a name for himself in the heart of the backline.

Last season, the 25-year-old had to contend with Issa Diop and Tim Ream for a starting berth at Craven Cottage, but he was instrumental in Fulham’s top-half finish, making 25 top-flight appearances for Marco Silva’s side. However, his contract expires at the end of next season.

The Cottagers recently activated an extension in Adarabioyo’s deal to prevent him from leaving the club on a free transfer this summer, but talks over a longer-term deal are yet to produce a breakthrough, with Fulham now ready to cash in on the 6ft 5in defender.

Adarabioyo is a homegrown defender, which is important for Spurs with academy product Japhet Tanganga on the move this summer, and his contract situation makes a cut-price deal more likely. However, the journalist adds that Spurs would have to move quickly as other clubs also have the 25-year-old defender on their radar.
