Romelu Lukaku inches closer to Juventus move

Chelsea star forward Romelu Lukaku is one step away from making the move to Serie A giants Juventus in the ongoing transfer window.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Juventus are keen on having Romelu Lukaku in their ranks, and they have been in talks with Chelsea of late. While the Serie A giants are doing everything in their power to land the 30-year-old at the club, they fear the involvement of Saudi Pro League clubs.

Lukaku’s future has been the talk of the town ever since the start of the transfer window. The 30-year-old was linked with Inter Milan for the majority of the time. However, the move seems to have collapsed after he started negotiations with their rivals Juventus.

The Belgian international was on loan at Inter last season after a disappointing spell at Chelsea. The former Manchester United forward featured in a total of 37 matches last season. The majority of his appearances came off the bench and he was on the pitch for less than 2000 minutes.

Despite having limited game time, the 30-year-old still managed to score 14 goals and he even bagged seven assists. He managed to impress the Inter manager Simone Inzaghi, and he was keen on bringing him back. However, they are no longer interested and Juventus seem to be the only European club willing to be on the Belgian international.

The Serie A giants already have an agreement in place with the player, and they have been in talks with the club of late. Juventus have started negotiating with the Blues over a potential deal. But they are well aware of the interest from the Middle East.

Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli are ready to outbid the Old Lady in every possible way. However, with the player keen on making the move to Juventus, they might have an edge.

While negotiations between both clubs are still on, the deal will depend on the future of Dusan Vlahovic, who has been linked with several Premier League clubs. The Serbian international’s departure will fund the Lukaku deal. As a result, despite all the progress made, there is still a major step to be taken before a potential move.
