Sevilla and Real Sociedad are both interested in acquiring the services of 32-year-old Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

According to a report by Fichajes, La Liga clubs Sevilla and Real Sociedad are ready to battle it out for the services of Thiago Alcantara. The 32-year-old midfielder’s future has been uncertain for a while now and he could be on his way out in the ongoing window.

The 46-cap Spain international’s contract with Liverpool runs out in 12 months time. And, there are no talks of potential renewal at this point in time. As a result, there is a real possibility that the Merseyside club might accept an offer for the former Bayern Munich star as they might not want to lose out on him for free next year.

Thiago Alcantara came through the ranks at Barcelona’s famous youth academy La Masia. He featured for their first team for a few seasons before making the move to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013. After seven successful seasons with the German giants, he joined Liverpool in the summer of 2020.

While he has had a lot of success over the past three seasons, the 32-year-old has struggled with injuries of late. He could only manage to feature in 28 matches last season and was on the pitch for less than 2,000 minutes.

The Spain international still remains an integral part of their first team setup despite all the injury struggles. However, with his contract running out in 12 months’ time, Liverpool are considering offloading him in the ongoing window.

The Merseyside club are pushing for a few more midfielders in the ongoing window. As a result, letting the 32-year-old leave might not be that big a problem for them. Meanwhile, Sevilla and Real Sociedad are the two suitors ready to go all out for his services. Both the clubs are ready to bring him back to Spain as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

According to the report, Real Sociedad are the favourites for his signatures. But Sevilla are not far behind. Both Spanish clubs are looking for a dominant force in the centre of the park and believe the arrival of the 32-year-old can give them the edge.
