Manchester City starlet Taylor Harwood-Bellis heading to West Ham

West Ham United are close to signing a second Manchester City player in recent days, as Taylor Harwood-Bellis is about to join them.

According to Alessio Alaimo, Taylor Harwood-Bellis is headed towards joining West Ham United in the coming period. The 21-year-old Manchester City defender could join the Hammers in a permanent deal and become the second player to do so in quick succession.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis has been silently garnering a big reputation in the background after a tremendous season under his belt. The 21-year-old Manchester City defender had a commendable campaign in the Championship with Burnley and led the England U21 team to European glory.

He became an improved player under Vincent Kompany last season at the Clarets, who wanted to sign him again. Manchester City were open to selling the player who has had 8 appearances for the club so far. He has spent considerable time on loan and entered the final year of his deal at the Etihad.

Manchester City were reportedly seeking £15 million as per another report on the Evening Standard, which would seem commendable. Pep Guardiola’s side recently agreed a deal with West Ham to sell Carlos Borges for around £14 million, which seems great for a player who never made a senior appearance.

West Ham are now closing in on Harwood-Bellis and taking him on a permanent transfer. While Man City may get a good return on the fees, the Hammers are signing one of the promising defensive talents in the country. Many have compared this deal to Crystal Palace signing Marc Guehi.

Harwood-Bellis has the interest of other Premier League sides apart from West Ham and Burnley, but the Hammers have made their mark. It’s a fantastic signing for the London side, who are surprisingly buying young players this summer.

David Moyes may have outlined the way forward for his team to evolve, and bringing in young players would secure the club’s future. However, the manager’s primary objective will remain centred around bringing in midfield reinforcements, particularly to replace Declan Rice.

They had wanted a new defender in this window, and the potential arrival of Harwood-Bellis might put a stop to that search. He could grow and become a solid player at the club in the coming years and may start competing with the other senior centre-backs this season.
