Tottenham Hotspur have received a major setback in their pursuit of 23-year-old Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso.
According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Andrea Cambiaso in their ranks ahead of next season. The 23-year-old Italian youth international has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months, and there are quite a few clubs keen on having him in their ranks.
While there is a lot of interest in the 23-year-old’s services, Juventus are not ready to sell at this point in time. Things could change in the near future as discussions continue.
The Italian youth international’s agent Giovanni Bia has talked about his future, and he has made it clear that Juventus will make their own assessment during the pre-season. They won’t deprive themselves of the services of the 23-year-old with that easy and will demand a significant price.
Bia recently said, “Juventus strongly wanted him, they put a lot of money on the table and they will certainly make their own assessments before depriving themselves of it and I think they will also ask for a lot of money. What is happening is there for all to see. Last week some teams approached and I think that something will happen here too, but Juventus will not deprive themselves of it easily”
Cambiaso came through the ranks at Genoa and made it to their first team at quite an early age. After impressive performances at his childhood club, the Italian giants Juventus acquired his services ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The Old Lady decided to send him out on loan to Bologna just days after signing him to ensure he gets regular first-team minutes. The 23-year-old was involved in a total of 34 matches last season and he was on the pitch for over 2,200 minutes. Cambiaso contributed with three assists and his overall game was quite solid.
He has returned to his parent club and has started training for next season. While he had a great season last time out on loan at Bologna, the 23-year-old might still not get enough first-team minutes at Juventus. As a result, his future is still uncertain.
Massimiliano Allegri is expected to make a decision regarding his future after the end of the pre-season. The priority for Juventus will be to keep him at the club. However, one cannot rule out a permanent transfer elsewhere if the Old Lady receive the right price.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. The North London club were not at their best last season defensively. As a result, they are looking to reinforce their defence by signing a new centre-back and a full-back.
Cambiaso is their target for the full-back role. Their new manager Ange Postecoglou is a big admirer of the 23-year-old and believes his arrival could do wonders for the present as well as the future. Even if Juventus decide to sell, Tottenham will still have to compete with the likes of AC Milan and Nottingham Forest who are also interested in the Italian youth international.
