Manchester City could angle a move for Bradley Barcola as they seek attacking reinforcements, with Lyon demanding €40 million.
According to Le Parisien via Sport Witness, Manchester City are keen on Bradley Barcola, who could end up costing at least €40 million. Lyon’s financial situation could end in the sale of the attacker, but they could only do so at their asking price.
Bradley Barcola has had a breakthrough season at Lyon and has thoroughly impressed with his performances. Five goals and nine assists in 26 games have proved enough to garner interest from some of the top clubs, although any move away would only materialise on certain factors.
Manchester City are keen on Barcola, but they only needed attacking reinforcements after recent events evolved. Pep Guardiola might forecast a few key departures from his squad, which need reinforcing.
Riyad Mahrez has agreed to join Al Ahli, and Guardiola must replace the Algerians in the squad. Meanwhile, there are chances of Bernardo Silva departing the club too, which could force the manager to bring in a big-name signing in his place.
They have already earmarked Raphinha to replace Mahrez, but any deal with Barcelona will prove costly. Hence, they might have pivoted towards Barcola but will have to shell out €40 million to sign the forward. Lyon have no rush to sell him right now, but they are under the watch of the DGCG, which could force them to raise more funds.
Manchester City might outline a path for Barcola to flourish in the coming years, with the 20-year-old not likely to refuse Guardiola’s overtures. The manager hopes Barcola has a similar path to Julian Alvarez and achieves unprecedented success.
Meanwhile, they will focus their efforts on bringing Jorko Gvardiol, with the deal running into complexities in the last few days. Multiple reports have given out contrasting information on the centre-back’s future, but Guardiola is keen to land him as a replacement for Aymeric Laporte.
As for Barcola, he will find the prospect of joining Manchester City tempting, but any move will depend on Lyon’s stance on their asking price.
