Tottenham are considering making a move for Flamengo’s Pedro as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, who might go if the conditions are right.
According to the Independent, Tottenham could switch their attention towards Pedro if they lose Harry Kane. The 26-year-old South American forward has been in prolific form for Flamengo, making Spurs consider him an option.
Tottenham have been smart with their business in this transfer window. Adding a couple of central defenders remains a primary agenda, having made significant signings in other areas. Counting permanent signings, Spurs have now confirmed five players.
Destiny Udogie is also a new signing, but his deal got finalised last summer. Dejan Kulusevski, Manor Solomon and James Maddison are their star attacking signings, but they might have closed the door had it not been for the Harry Kane situation.
Bayern Munich maintain a keen interest in the 29-year-old striker, but Spurs have seemed unshakable in their stance. Daniel Levy will have felt the renewed squad would have solid strength with Kane, but the situation has complexities.
Tottenham could even consider a sale of Kane but at the right price. Levy would like to invest significantly in a new forward as a replacement after that. The report insists. Spurs may not want a like-for-like replacement but a new forward who suits Ange Postecoglou’s new ideas.
Ivan Toney was also linked, but the striker is currently serving a ban that will only allow him to play again in mid-January. Meanwhile, there are links to Flamengo star Pedro. The 26-year-old South American forward had a previous spell in the continent with Fiorentina, but he was a different player then.
In the last many years, he has developed a reputation as a fearsome frontman with Flamengo. He has won the Copa Libertadores with the club and could eye a move to European football again. Tottenham already have his compatriot and national team rival Richarlison among their ranks, which may work both ways.
Any move for the prolific 26-year-old forward will depend on Tottenham’s ideas with Kane. He could become an option if the England captain departs, although there are other choices if that happens, with Postecoglou likely to consider a new striker with continental experience.
