Chelsea are looking to submit a bid of over £80 million for the services of 21-year-old Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Chelsea are looking to submit an improved offer to Brighton as they look to acquire the services of Moises Caicedo. The Blues placed an initial bid worth £70 million in the recent past, but it was rejected by the Seagulls.

Caicedo has been on the radar of multiple English clubs over the past six month. But at this point in time, Chelsea are favourites to acquire his services. The Blues have been interested in his services since January and of late, they have been making moves to sign the Ecuador international.

Arsenal are also interested in the Brighton midfielder. The Gunners even submitted a bid of £70 million for his services back in the winter. But the Seagulls did not want to sell him mid-way through the season. While the Gunners are still interested in him, they have already spent a fortune this summer and can only push for him after selling a few players.

Just after the end of the winter window, Caicedo penned down a new deal with Brighton and his new contract runs until the end of 2027. When he signed a new deal, the 21-year-old was promised that he would be sold if a similar bid arrived in the summer.

However, Brighton have changed their valuation post the big-money move of Declan Rice and now want around £100 million for their star midfielder. The Blues’ initial bid was £30 million sort of the asking price. As a result, the Seagulls rejected it. But, Chelsea are keen on having him in their ranks and they are ready to make another bid. The London club are preparing an offer of £80 million plus add-ons.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team have offloaded quite a few players in the ongoing window and are now focused on signing new players to bolster their squad. N’Golo Kante’s departure has left a big void and they are keen on filling it by acquiring the services of the 21-year-old who is their top transfer target at this point in time.

The player is close to agreeing on personal terms with the London club. However, there is a lot of negotiations to be done between the clubs. While the Blues are ready to put forward an improved bid, it will still be well sort of Brighton’s valuation. As a result, it will be interesting to see how the Seagulls respond this time around.
