Atletico Madrid will reportedly let Barcelona sign 31-cap Portuguese international Joao Felix on loan this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Joao Felix might realise his dream of joining Barcelona in the ongoing transfer window. Atletico Madrid will let the Blaugrana sign the Portuguese international in the ongoing transfer window. And the two clubs will likely agree to an initial loan deal with the option to sign him permanently next summer.
Joao Felix has endured a rollercoaster ride since joining Atletico Madrid from Benfica in July 2019. Los Rojiblancos triggered his release clause to secure his services four years ago. But while the 23-year-old has shown promise during his ongoing stint, he has been inconsistent thus far.
The Portuguese international has made 131 appearances for Atletico Madrid, chipping in with 34 goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, Felix spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Chelsea. But his stint at the West London club did not work out either, as he found the back of the net four times in 20 outings.
Now back at Atletico Madrid, the player seemingly has no future at the Civitas Metropolitano. And following his run-ins with Diego Simeone, the Spanish club’s manager is ready to sanction his sale. Meanwhile, Felix recently revealed Barcelona as his dream club. And he might soon realise his dream of joining the Blaugrana.
Reports last month had suggested that Barcelona would not pursue the 31-cap Portuguese international, as he was too expensive for them. But he is a viable target for the reigning La Liga champions, who need a long-term offensive solution amid uncertainties surrounding Ferran Torres.
In addition, Ansu Fati faces an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou. But while he previously appeared too expensive for Barcelona, they can now sign the Atletico Madrid attacker. That is because the Colchoneros have given the go-ahead to the Blaugrana to sign the 23-year-old on loan.
The deal will contain a purchase option instead of an obligation-to-buy clause, making it more attractive for Barcelona. So it will be interesting to see if the 31-cap Portuguese international realises his dream of representing Barcelona this summer.
