Bayer Leverkusen star forward Moussa Diaby is interested in joining Unai Emery’s Aston Villa ahead of next season.
According to Rheinische Post via Sport Witness, Aston Villa are keen on having Moussa Diaby in their ranks. The 24-year-old has been on their radar for a while now and they are getting serious about their pursuit of the 24-year-old’s services.
Diaby came through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain before making a permanent switch to Bayer Leverkusen. The French winger hasn’t looked back since making the move the Germany. He has been involved in a total of 172 matches during his time with Leverkusen. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net on 49 occasions and he also has 48 assists to his name.
The French international was on fire last season as he racked up river 3,800 minutes in his 48 appearances and was involved in 25 goals. Diaby scored 14 goals and created the remaining 11. His exceptional performances have attracted the attention of Aston Villa who have been making moves to sign him for a while now.
Unai Emery is keen on bolstering his squad ahead of next season after having an exceptional first in charge of the English club. The Spanish manager is looking for attacking reinforcement after having already signed a midfielder and a defender.
He is keen on having Diaby at his disposal and they had even submitted an initial bid for the 24-year-old whose contract with the German clubs until the summer of 2025. However, their offer has been rejected by Bayer Leverkusen who according to reports want around €60 million for the winger.
While Villa are trying their best to acquire his services, the player has also expressed his desire of joining Emery’s team. The initial bid might have been rejected, but the report suggests that there is a high possibility that the 24-year-old will be on the move in the ongoing window.
But, for him to join the Premier League side, Villa will have to dig deeper and put forward an improved offer for the French international’s services. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr also interested in Diaby’s services, Unai Emery’s team need to be careful.
