Leeds United have agreed to sign Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea for £7 million, as the Blues were keen on a sale.
According to The Athletic, Leeds United have agreed on a deal with Chelsea to sign unwanted star Ethan Ampadu. The Welsh star has no place at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues are open to selling him for a sizeable offer, which has come from Leeds as things stand.
Ethan Ampadu has had a strange career since breaking into the Chelsea side but barely even featured for the first team. He has since gone on several loan deals to gain proper experience away from Stamford Bridge. But nothing has convinced the club about a long-term stay.
Ampadu played 31 times for relegated Spezia in Serie A last term and has now returned to Chelsea. The club were open to selling him for a reasonable offer, and they may have landed one. Leeds United are the side keen on taking the 22-year-old utility man, who can play many roles.
Leeds United have agreed on a £7 million deal with Chelsea and will pay more in bonuses as things progress. It is a fair deal for both parties, as Chelsea can offload a player they do not need at the club, and maybe the Welsh star himself wanted to take up a new challenge.

Ampadu can play many roles in a team, being a defender and slot in the midfield. Many tend to rate the Wales international rather highly, and some are disappointed at his lack of opportunities at Chelsea.
Leeds United expect many players to leave the club after their relegation from the Premier League. With the club likely to lose key midfielders Marc Roca and Tyler Adams, there’s a chance new manager Daniel Farke sees Ampadu in a midfield role.
Additionally, with the Welsh star’s capability to play at the back, he could become a handy option for Leeds in their quest to return to the Premier League in 2024. For Chelsea, it’s a good deal for the money they receive, which they could integrate into their transfer budget.
