Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are not interested in having 30-year-old Iranian goal-scoring machine Mehdi Taremi in their ranks.

According to Dean Jones via GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal will not be pushing for the services of Mehdi Taremi. The Gunners are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season, but they won’t be making a move to sign the 30-year-old FC Porto striker despite being linked with him.

Taremi has been linked with numerous clubs of late and Arsenal are one of them. The 30-year-old was on fire last season, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed. There is quite a lot of interest in his services from all parts of the world.

He has been a part of Portuguese club FC Porto since the summer of 2020. Over the years he has been involved in a total of 147 matches and has contributed towards 129 goals. The 30-year-old has 80 goals and 49 assists to his name.

While he has been scoring goals on a consistent basis, the Iran international took his game to the next level in the 2022-23 season. He featured in a total of 51 matches and managed to rack up 45 goal contributions. The 30-year-old found the back of the net on 31 occasions.

His terrific form in front of goal has resulted in him being linked with quite a few clubs ever since the start of the window. With his contract running out in 12 months’ time, Porto are ready to sell him for just £17 million, as they don’t want to risk losing out on his for free.

Meanwhile, he has been linked with Arsenal of late. Multiple reports have suggested that Arsenal are keen on having him in their ranks. However, Dean Jones suggests that there is no interest from the Gunners and they won’t be pushing for his services.

Jones believes that Taremi’s profile is not what Arsenal are looking for at this point in time. Their focus is on signing young players who can help them in the long run.

Jones on Taremi to Arsenal, “Yeah, I mean, Mehdi Taremi is suddenly being linked with a lot of clubs. Whenever that happens, I’m always a little bit cautious about whether he’s just being touted around and what the meaning is behind it. I haven’t heard too much on this one in terms of Arsenal’s genuine interest. As far as I’ve been told, a forward of this sort of mould isn’t really on the radar at this sort of time.”

The Gunners have already signed Kai Havertz and soon they will be announcing the arrival of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber. With three big-money moves secured, Arsenal are expected to slow down and look for another midfielder, according to the report.
