Manchester City are closing in on signing Manchester United defensive prodigy Harrison Parker after beating at least four clubs.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are close to reaching an agreement with Manchester United for teenage star Harrison Parker. The 16-year-old defensive prodigy rejected a good offer from the Red Devils and now seems close to joining their arch-rivals.

Manchester City have been one of the most successful teams in England over the last decade in many aspects. Not only have they justified the tag in senior football, with last season’s treble a huge sign of their progress, but they are also excelling with their youth setup.

Phil Foden, Romeo Lavia and others have come through their ranks, while England U21s Cole Palmer and James Trafford further prove their elite development in the background. Hence, Manchester City have become attractive to youngsters, especially from rival sides.

Man City are close to losing promising talents like Jack and Tyler Fletcher to Manchester United. The duo are sons of former Red Devils midfielder Darren Fletcher. However, in what’s been described as revenge, the Cityzens are now close to signing one of their top talents, Harrison Parker.

The 16-year-old defensive prodigy came through the ranks of Arsenal youth before joining Manchester United in 2021. He has been good at their academy and even featured for the U18s. The Red Devils had wanted to keep him for the future, but the player has decided against continuing at the club.

Manchester United reportedly offered him the highest wage they could to a youth player. Yet, Parker has rejected the proposal and now seems set on moving to arch-rivals Manchester City. The two teams are close to finding an agreement, with the Cityzens likely to pay a decent compensation fee.

Fabrizio Romano insisted Manchester City beat at least four teams to get the player. It’s good news for the Premier League giants after they recently failed to pursue the highly-rated Ethan Nwaneri. The youngster signed a new deal with Arsenal, which was a bitter blow for Man City.

However, with the potential signing of Parker, they will have one of the brightest talents from the land. It’s even a sweeter deal to snap him up from their arch-rivals, and Manchester United will likely rue their efforts to convince the defender, especially if he goes on to shine in the future.
