Liverpool are willing to accept a bid closer to their €20 million valuation for Thiago Alcantara, but Galatasaray are only offering half that sum.

According to Aksam, Liverpool are ready to cash in on Thiago Alcantara if a €20 million offer arrives. The Spanish midfielder continues to attract interest, with Galatasaray one of the keener sides. The Turkish champions are eager to take him, but their reported offer is only about half of what the Reds want.

Thiago Alcantara was supposed to elevate the quality of Liverpool’s midfield, but the fans have not seen any transformation so far. The Spanish international arrived with a big reputation following his successful stints at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. But injuries have kept him sidelined here for a significant period.

Thiago has played some crucial games under Jurgen Klopp, but he could see his name on the surplus list this summer. Not that the 46-cap Spanish international has any desire to leave. But Liverpool might see a market opportunity emerging to cash in on the midfielder. And they seek €20 million to sell the midfielder.

Having rejected the overtures of Saudi Arabia, it seemed like Thiago could give it another try at Liverpool in the upcoming season. The raft of departures like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita from Klopp’s midfield may have made the manager think about keeping the experienced Spaniard on board. But things continue to change rapidly.

Liverpool maintain an interest in Romeo Lavia. But the transfer continues to stall owing to his massive asking price and the lack of space in the squad. With the departure of Thiago, Klopp can think about reigniting the chase for the Belgian.

For now, Galatasaray seem like the interested club in the 46-cap Spanish international. Beyond that, Saudi Arabian clubs might still open their doors, but the midfielder has already ruled out the idea. Hence, a move to Turkey might seem the only way out for the Spaniard.

Galatasaray are open to making a bid worth €10 million and €4 million in add-ons. The report states the Turkish giants want to cover the costs in four installments, and the bonuses will seem achievable. They will reportedly pay €2 million if they exit the Champions League group stages and an additional €2 million if Thiago makes 40 appearances or more next season.

Given the midfielder’s injury record in recent seasons, the last clause may have some justification. The fixed price, however, is nearly half of Liverpool’s €20 million demand. But given the market conditions and the need for the player, they might ponder over Galatasaray’s offer.

Then the big question will have to be about Thiago’s preference and whether he will to join the Turkish champions. The player might consider himself capable of playing for one of the elite clubs, but there are barely any options. At this point, Galatasaray may feel optimistic, and things could get clearer in the coming days.
