Thiago Alcantara was supposed to elevate the quality of Liverpool’s midfield, but the fans have not seen any transformation so far. The Spanish international arrived with a big reputation following his successful stints at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. But injuries have kept him sidelined here for a significant period.
Thiago has played some crucial games under Jurgen Klopp, but he could see his name on the surplus list this summer. Not that the 46-cap Spanish international has any desire to leave. Given the midfielder’s injury record in recent seasons, the last clause may have some justification. The fixed price, however, is nearly half of Liverpool’s €20 million demand. But given the market conditions and the need for the player, they might ponder over Galatasaray’s offer.
Then the big question will have to be about Thiago’s preference and whether he will to join the Turkish champions.
