Romelu Lukaku is all set to part ways with Chelsea and join the Italian giants Inter Milan on a permanent basis.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Romelu Lukaku is close to leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis. The 30-year-old is keen on re-joining Inter Milan ahead of next season and the Italian giants are pushing to acquire his services.
Lukaku’s career has been a rollercoaster ride that has seen. The 30-year-old was at the peak of his power while he was playing for Inter Milan from 2019 to 2021. The Belgian international was amongst the best forwards in world football.
He was scoring goals for fun and there was a lot of interest in his services. Chelsea managed to come out on top and secured his services in a big money move. But, post that things haven’t been the same.
He struggled to get going in England and ahead of the 2022-23 season he returned to Inter on loan. While the 30-year-old was used as a substitute on majority of the occasions, he did manage to impress manager Simone Inzaghi who is now keen on having him back in his squad.
Meanwhile, the Blues are ready to offload Lukaku as they do not consider him to be an important part of their project going ahead. Even the player is desperate to part ways.
According to the report by Gazzetta dello Sport, Sebastien Ledure who is Lukaku’s lawyer as well as Chelsea’s intermediary for this deal had a meeting with the Italian club. And, Inter have made it clear that they are looking to buy the 30-year-old on a permanent basis.
Meanwhile, the Blues have accepted that no club will match the €50 million offer from Saudi Arabia and they are ready to do business around the €40 million mark. However, Inter do not intend on going beyond €30 million. So, there is still a bit of negotiation left.
However, the report by Corriere dello Sport is slightly different as they suggest Inter are looking to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy him for €25-30 million at the end. And, they are ready to add performance-related bonuses to the deal.
While there is a slight difference in both reports, one thing is certain, Inter are keen on having him on a permanent basis. And, with Chelsea ready to sell, they should reach an agreement in the near future.
