Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
According to Voetbal International, Dutch outfit FC Twente are keen on signing Facundo Pellistri this summer. And they have already submitted an enquiry to Manchester United for the 12-cap Uruguay international.
Pellistri is unlikely to get regular first-team opportunities at Manchester United next season. So it makes sense for the 21-year-old winger to move on in search of regular playing time. Recently, there were rumours that Manchester United could look to agree on a new deal with him.
The 21-year-old was highly rated around Europe when he joined Manchester United, and he has a big future ahead of him. Regular football at another club could help him realise his potential. Manchester United are already well stocked in the wide areas, and a summer exit for Pellistri would be ideal for all parties. That said, a loan move seems the likeliest avenue.
Although a move to Twente would be a step down for the Manchester United attacker, the 21-year-old could be excited about the opportunity of playing on a weekly basis. He is still quite young, and if he manages to continue his development with regular football and fulfil his potential, he will have plenty of opportunities to join a big club in the near future.
Alternatively, Manchester United could look to send him out on loan so that he can gather some first-team experience and return as a better player next summer. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.
The Red Devils have recently completed a big money deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea, and they will need to improve their attacking options as well. They were overly dependent on Marcus Rashford in attack last season, and the England international will need more help and support from his teammates.
They need to sign a quality striker, and getting rid of fringe players will certainly boost their transfer war chest. If a lucrative offer for Pellistri is presented in the coming weeks, it would not be surprising if Manchester United sanctioned his permanent departure from the club.
