Manchester United are advancing in contract extension talks with Uruguayan talent Facundo Pellistri and secure the 21-year-old’s future.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the ongoing talks between Manchester United and Facundo Pellistri. The two parties are in advanced negotiations to find an agreement over a new deal until 2028, as Erik ten Hag rates the player highly.

Manchester United are set to make some important decisions in the summer and bring in necessary players to strengthen the squad. The club will remain busy in the market as Erik ten Hag continues his squad building to make the Red Devils solid competitors next season.

A striker, midfielder and a few defensive signings could become Ten Hag’s key needs in the window. While the club will try their best to bring what’s needed, the manager is also keen to build a core of young players. Some of them have excelled with their developments in recent seasons.

Manchester United have some of the promising young talents in the squad. Last summer’s signing of Antony improved their overall profile. Meanwhile, the recent extension of Alejandro Garnacho ensured they have one of their best talents for the future.

Garnacho has excelled when given a chance and could break through into becoming a sure starter from next season onwards. Meanwhile, another player is coming through the ranks with Facundo Pellistri. Ten Hag rates the Uruguay international rather highly and remains keen to make him an important part of his squad.

Now Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the club are in advanced negotiations with Pellistri to hand him a new contract. The deal will last until 2028, thus securing his long-term future with Manchester United. It’s good news from Ten Hag’s perspective as he could now look to develop the player in his system.

Manchester United had been thinking of this new contract for some time now. They may have wanted to wait until the end of the campaign before opening talks. However, it appears that the club are in a rush to get the agreement in place for the 21-year-old attacker to focus on their summer window.

The pattern seems to align, as they only recently announced the Garnacho agreement. Comparing the two stars, the 21-year-old attacker is yet to gain as much prominence as the Argentine. He has only managed 10 appearances in all competition, with three coming in the Premier League.

However, Ten Hag believes in his talents and will be very delighted with the progress in extending Pellistri’s deal. The 21-year-old attacker is also a regular for Uruguay, but whether that remains the same with new boss, Marcelo Bielsa remains the question.
