Manchester United want to pen down a new long-term contract with 21-year-old Uruguay international Facundo Pellistri.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are keen on extending the contract of Facundo Pellistri. The Red Devils are impressed with the development of the 21-year-old and want to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

Pellistri joined Manchester United back in October 2022 from Penarol. He has been subject to loan moves since joining the club to gain first-team experience. While the 21-year-old has not had much game time in his first full season at the club, the former Penarol winger has shown signs of great improvement.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is happy with what he has seen from the youngster and wants the club to extend his contract. The Uruguay international has featured in eight matches for the first team and has an assist to his name.

While he has been on the pitch for just around 200 minutes, his work ethic off the pitch and his heroics for the national team is what make Manchester United confident about his abilities. The 21-year-old already has 11 caps for Uruguay and is on course for a lot more in the near future.

Pellistri’s ongoing contract with Manchester United runs until the summer of 2025. While there are a few years still left in his existing deal, the club are keen on penning down a long-term extension with the 21-year-old. They are willing to increase his wages and want to ensure they keep hold of the star for years to come.

While Manchester United’s major focus at this point in time is to finish the season on a high, they have already started to plan for the near future. They have already identified a few potential transfer targets for the summer. And, apart from that, extending Pellistri’s contract is a priority for them.

Manchester United are all set to enter contract extension talks with the 21-year-old’s agent this month. The Red Devils want it sorted before the end of the season. And, with a new deal to be discussed soon, it might not be long before we have an official confirmation of the Red Devils agreeing on a new deal with the Uruguay international.
