Arsenal have been linked with a move for French forward Kylian Mbappe, a target for Real Madrid, this summer.

Kylian Mbappe could leave Paris Saint-German in the summer after refusing to sign a new deal with the club, and he has been linked with Real Madrid as well. And Ryan Taylor has told Give Me Sport that Arsenal are unlikely to sign the player this summer because it would not make sense financially.

The report adds that the player has a preference towards a move to Arsenal. But Mbappe is likely to cost around £154 million, and Arsenal will not be able to afford him this summer.

The Gunners have been very active in the transfer market so far, and they have already secured the services of Kai Havertz from Chelsea. Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber are expected to follow him to the Emirates.

The acquisition of all three players would push Arsenal’s spending past the £200 million mark. So it would be very surprising if Arsenal decided to splash out on another marquee transfer. Hence, a deal for Mbappe is off the table for the North London club.

Mbappe is in the final year of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and the French outfit want him to sign a new deal. They have been vocal about their stance, claiming that the player will be sold this summer if he does not renew his contract.

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid can sign the French international this summer. Mbappe is one of the best players in the world and he will improve most teams. Real Madrid need his quality in the final third, especially after the departure of Karim Benzema. But the Frenchman might not push for a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Mbappe picked up 41 goals across all competitions last season, and he would be a superb long-term acquisition. There is no doubt that the 24-year-old is one of the best players of his generation, and he has all the attributes to develop into the next superstar.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could definitely use a quality forward, especially with Gabriel Jesus the only reliable striker at the club right now. Signing Mbappe seems like a fantasy right now, but Arsenal can always make their move for cheaper alternatives.

The Gunners have started the transfer window well and they will look to finish with a flourish. They are back in the Champions League and Arsenal will want to compete for all major trophies next year. They will certainly need to improve their squad adequately and Mikel Arteta has certainly impressed with his transfer business so far.
