Chelsea will have to fork out £30 million to acquire the services of 29-year-old Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte.
According to Rudy Galetti, Chelsea are interested in having Aymeric Laporte in their ranks. The 29-year-old defender’s future at Manchester City has been uncertain for a while now and Chelsea could be a potential destination for him.
Laporte came through the ranks at Athletic Club and made quite a name for himself during his time at the Basque outfit. His impressive performances caught the eyes of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who managed to acquire him in the winter of 2018.
The 29-year-old has since gone from strength to strength. And, he has helped the Premier League champions win numerous titles over the years. However, his game time has taken a hit of late and he is not happy with the situation.
The Spain international featured in a total of just 24 matches last season and he was on the pitch for less than 1,900 minutes. Laporte has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City under Guardiola and with the club likely to acquire the services of RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol, his game time could go down even further.

As a result, the 29-year-old is pushing for a move away from the club. While he still has two years left on his deal with City, Laporte is keen on joining a club where he will be a regular starter. Guardiola’s team are ready to let him leave but they will only do so for a fee of £30 million.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are a potential destination for the 29-year-old. The Blues have offloaded quite a few players of late and are now focused on signing players who can help bolster their squad and they have their eyes set on Laporte.
Chelsea’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of their player and would love to have him in his ranks. The Blues have been monitoring the Spain international for a while now. And with the price tag now clear at £30 million, they could make a move in the near future. It will be interesting to see if the Premier League winner joins Chelsea anytime soon.
