Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of 17-year-old Spanish youth international Assane Diao.
According to AS via Sport Witness, Liverpool are keen on having Assane Diao in their ranks. The 17-year-old has been in sensational form of late, and there is a lot of interest in his services from across Europe.
Diao has been a part of the Real Betis youth academy since the summer of 2021. He has gone up the ranks at the club and is currently a part of their reserve team. While he might not have made his first-team debut yet, the teenager has made quite a name for himself with impressive performances for the reserve team last season.
The Spain youth international featured in a total of 20 games and managed to score four goals and also bagged two assists. While his numbers are average, the 17-year-old has been a constant threat from the left-hand side and has huge potential going forward.
Meanwhile, his current contract with Betis runs out in the summer of 2024 and the club haven’t managed to tie him down to a new long-term deal. With just one year left on his contract, there are quite a few clubs pushing for his signatures. And, it is claimed that Manuel Pellegrini’s team could lose out on a future star in the coming weeks.

Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in the teenager’s services. The Merseyside club have been scouting him for a while now, and they believe he could be a great signing for the future. Jurgen Klopp’s men have already started making moves. They have contacted the player’s entourage as they seek the Spanish Under-19 star’s signatures.
Even if they manage to reach an agreement with the player, they cannot sign him in the ongoing summer as the 17-year-old won’t be allowed to play in England until he turns 18 because of the new rules.
However, he turns 18 in September, so pushing for him now does make sense as he can make the move in the winter window. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig and Real Madrid are also interested in the teenager and they will surely push Liverpool all the way.
