Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in contact over a possible move for Max Kilman, whose price tag is €40 million.
According to a report by Tutto Mercato Web, Max Kilman is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The 26-year-old is also a target for Serie A champions Napoli. But their opening bid of €35 million did not seal the deal. And Wolverhampton Wanderers want €40 million to part ways with him.
Max Kilman had humble beginnings after passing through the academies at five clubs. And the London-born centre-back played for an unheralded Maidenhead United before sealing a big move to the Molineux in August 2018. And he has not looked back since then, establishing himself as one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old has been a regular for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last few years. And his stature has elevated since the departures of Willy Boly and Conor Coady. Kilman has turned out over 100 times for the Black Country outfit, chipping in with one goal and two assists. And his progress has captured the attention of Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur will look to sign a centre-back in the summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks to stamp his authority at the North London club. The Australian manager has arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and overseen two major arrivals. And he wants to address the defensive unit this summer.
The North London club shipped in a whopping 63 goals in the Premier League last season. And with Cristian Romero being the only dependable performer for Tottenham, a new centre-back is the need of the hour. They have thus shown an interest in several centre-backs, including Micky van de Ven.
Kilman also features on Tottenham’s wishlist. And the report claims that the North London club and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in close contact over a possible summer move. Meanwhile, the Midlands outfit will demand €40 million to part ways with the 26-year-old. The Premier League mainstays have already rejected a bid worth €35 million from Napoli.
The Serie A champions view Kilman as a long-term successor to Kim Min-jae, who will join Bayern Munich this summer. But with Tottenham entering the fray, the equation might change. And it will be interesting to see if Tottenham will pay €40 million to sign the 26-year-old defender.
