Manchester United are readying a final push to land Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

According to Fichajes, Premier League giants Manchester United are readying a final offer worth around €50 million to secure the services of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper and cannot afford to leave the position unaddressed this summer. The fact that they were willing to pull the plug on David de Gea’s contract negotiations without having a replacement already lined up should be concerning, to begin with.

Onana is a player who has seen his reputation soar following a stellar 2022/23 campaign at the Giuseppe Meazza. A reliable shot-stopper, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has also improved his positioning and is far more comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Capable of playing as a sweeper keeper, the 27-year-old has improved his positioning and is also familiar with Erik ten Hag’s system, having worked with the Manchester United boss while at Ajax Amsterdam.

Ten Hag is keen to establish a similar set of tactics at Old Trafford and could do with Onana’s talents at the back. While Manchester United are interested in the shot-stopper, interest from Saudi Arabia could potentially torpedo their chances.

The Red Devils are readying a final offer worth €50 million. Whether it will convince Inter Milan to sell him is debatable. After all, he is a key member of Simone Inzaghi’s system and is a player still entering his prime.

As things stand, Dean Henderson is the senior goalkeeper at Old Trafford, with Tom Heaton in reserve. The former is a decent player but is far from an improvement on de Gea. He has shown little to suggest that he has what it takes to become a reliable last line of defence to spearhead a title charge.

Eredivisie star Justin Bijlow has been touted as an alternative for Onana. But Manchester United have so far been unable to make much headway in their pursuit of the Dutchman. Either way, the Red Devils cannot afford to leave the position unaddressed much longer.
