Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing 26-year-old RB Leipzig defender Benjamin Henrichs in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg Arsenal are keen on signing 26-year-old Bayer Leverkusen right-back Benjamin Henrichs this summer.

Henrichs has been a key player for Leipzig this past season, and he picked up four goals and three assists across all competitions. The German international can operate as a right-back as well as a wing-back.

He can be a quality acquisition for the Arsenal side. The Gunners used Ben White as a right-back last season. But the former Brighton & Hove Albion defender is more suited to a central role. Signing a specialist right-back will allow Arsenal to improve their offensive department going forward.

In addition, it would also let White play in his natural role as the central defender. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can secure an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Gunners have also shown interest in other right-backs, like Ben Johnson.

Henrichs has a contract with RB Leipzig until the summer of 2025, and the German outfit will be under no pressure to sell him this summer. It remains to be seen whether they decide to quote a premium if Arsenal come calling.

As for the defender, he is likely to be tempted to move to the Premier League, with Arsenal being one of the biggest clubs in the world. The Gunners will be an attractive destination for most players after securing UEFA Champions League football. But they will have to convince RB Leipzig as well.

The North Londoners been quite active in the transfer market so far, and they have already secured the services of Kai Havertz. The Gunners are very close to signing Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber as well.

It is evident that they have improved their attack and midfield considerably with the signings of Rice and Havertz. The arrivals of Henrichs and Timber will improve them defensively, although only one of them is likely to join. Arsenal came close to winning the league title last year and will be looking to go all the way this time around.
