AC Milan will not pursue Arda Guler any longer this summer, handing Barcelona and Real Madrid a boost in the race to sign him.

According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by SPORT, Arda Guler is no longer the subject of interest from AC Milan. The Serie A giants have bowed out of the race to sign the 18-year-old wonderkid. And the latest update has handed a boost to Barcelona and Real Madrid’s prospects of striking a deal with Fenerbahce.

Arda Guler has the world at his feet at the nascent age of 18. A prodigious midfielder, the Turkish wonderkid is versatile enough to reprise different roles on the pitch. Not only can he play as a no. 10, he can also play on the flanks or as a box-to-box midfielder.

The teenage sensation made his first-team debut as a 16-year-old before enjoying his breakout campaign at Fenerbahce in 2022/23. Guler turned out 35 times across all competitions, chipping in with six goals and seven assists. And the youngster’s progress has captured the attention of several top clubs.

A recent report revealed AC Milan, Barcelona, and Real Madrid were the front-runners to secure Guler’s services. But the Rossoneri will not pursue the 18-year-old in the summer transfer window. The report does not mention the reason behind AC Milan’s decision. In addition, Borussia Dortmund will not launch the offensive for the youngster either.

Nonetheless, the latest update has boosted Barcelona and Real Madrid’s prospects of signing him. Recent reports have discussed Barcelona’s ramped-up efforts to secure Guler’s services. And the Catalan giants are reportedly optimistic about signing the Turk. Meanwhile, his versatility makes him an intriguing prospect for the Blaugrana.

As for Real Madrid, Los Blancos can utilise the Turkish international on the flanks, considering the midfield unit is at full capacity. And recent reports have claimed that the youngster dreams about joining Real Madrid. Meanwhile, the Merengues are reportedly preparing to submit an offer to Fenerbahce.

Barcelona and Real Madrid should be in a promising position to secure Guler’s services this summer. But the final decision will likely rest with the 18-year-old wonderkid as he looks to take the next step in his fledgling career.
