Inter Milan are set to hold fresh talks with Chelsea next week as they look to sign 30-year-old Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan are keen on having Romelu Lukaku in their ranks for next season. The Belgian international was on loan at Inter last season and he managed to put in some impressive performances. And, they are looking to bring him back.

Lukaku has had a rollercoaster ride in the world of football. After leaving Chelsea quite early in his career, the 30-year-old made a name for himself while playing for Everton. His performances resulted in a big-money move to Manchester United where he failed to fire.

He then joined Inter Milan and managed to revive himself. Lukaku was amongst the best forwards in world football during his days in Italy. His impressive performances forced Chelsea to break the bank and re-sign him. However, the move didn’t go according to plan.

And, ahead of the 2022-23 season, he was loaned back to Inter Milan. While on loan, he featured in a total of 37 matches and managed to contribute towards 21 goals. He found the back of the net on 14 occasions and also had 7 assists to his name.

His numbers are quite impressive when we consider the fact that he was primarily used as a substitute and was on the pitch for less than 2000 minutes. Simone Inzaghi was quite impressed with what he saw from Lukaku and is keen on having him back in his ranks.

While his contract with the Blues runs until the summer of 2026, they are ready to sell him as he is not a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plan. Meanwhile, Inter have been in talks with the Blues of late but no conclusions have been drawn yet.

The two clubs will meet again next week to decide the future of Romelu Lukaku. The Italian giants are ready to once again sign him on loan but this time there could be a buy clause. And, according to Romano, Inter will be looking to pay the amount in instalments.

With the Blues ready to sell, they might agree to a loan plus buy obligation deal. However, the final decision might depend on the fee Inter that are willing to pay for the 30-year-old.
