Dominik Szoboszlai has become the second signing of the summer transfer window for Liverpool, with the deal costing the Reds €70 million.
Liverpool FC have made an official statement to confirm that they have secured the services of Dominik Szoboszlai. The productive 22-year-old playmaker has signed a long-term contract with the Merseyside club. And they have reportedly shelled out €70 million to land the youngster from RB Leipzig.
Dominik Szoboszlai spent most of his formative years in his homeland before rising to prominence at Red Bull Salzburg. He spent nearly three years with the Austrian club before moving to RB Leipzig in January 2021. And the Hungarian international came leaps and bounds at the Bundesliga outfit.
The 22-year-old made nearly 100 appearances for Leipzig, chipping in with 20 goals and 22 assists. More than half of that tally came in the recently-concluded season. And Szoboszlai’s progress captured the attention of several high-profile clubs before Liverpool moved clear of the competition.
The Reds have now secured the services of the productive playmaker, who has signed a long-term contract at Anfield. And the Hungary captain has expressed his delight at joining Liverpool. He said, “It’s really, really good. I enjoyed the last [few] days and I’m looking forward to knowing everybody better.”

“The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy. But at the end I’m here, I’m happy and I can’t wait to get started. [A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”
Liverpool stepped up the efforts to secure Szoboszlai’s services earlier this week. And they wasted no time to get the deal over the line, as his release clause was expiring on June 30. The transfer is now official, with Liverpool making the productive 22-year-old the second signing of the summer transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have shelled out €70 million to prise him away from RB Leipzig. That was the value of Szoboszlai’s release clause with the Bundesliga club. And the youngster is now bracing himself for a new adventure after joining Liverpool.
