Rayan Cherki is reportedly one of the young prospects on the radar of Premier League heavyweights Chelsea this summer.
According to English journalist Fraser Fletcher, Rayan Cherki is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The West London giants remain in the market for offensive reinforcements heading into the summer transfer window. And the 19-year-old Lyon prospect is one of two young prospects on their radar.
Rayan Cherki is one of the best young prospects in his homeland, with pundits and fans alike rating him highly. The French whizkid started his youth career at AS Saint-Priest before joining Lyon over a decade ago. And he has come leaps and bounds during his 13-year association with Les Gones.
The 19-year-old is also a French youth international and made his first-team debut for Lyon in October 2019, aged 16. Since then, Cherki has turned out over 100 times for Lyon, chipping in with 14 goals and 16 assists. And the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.
Widespread reports have heavily linked the teenage sensation with Real Madrid for a long time. A few Premier League clubs have also been monitoring his progress closely. And he has not popped up on the radar of West London club Chelsea heading into the summer transfer window.
The Blues have already bolstered their first-team squad this summer by signing Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson. But it seems like Chelsea might not be done making offensive reinforcements in the ongoing transfer window. And Fraser Fletcher has claimed that Cherki and Florian Wirtz are on Chelsea’s radar.
But it is unclear how Cherki will fit into the scheme of things at Chelsea, considering Nkunku will likely essay the role he prefers to reprise. Nonetheless, the Blues are interested in the 19-year-old French youth international, although Fletcher’s tweet has not revealed anything more.
So a summer move might not be on the cards yet, with Chelsea likely monitoring Cherki and Wirtz. But it will be interesting to see if either player becomes a top target for the West London club. For now, the young attacking duo has emerged on Chelsea’s radar.
