Borussia Dortmund are eyeing up a cut-price move for unwanted Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga this summer.
According to Daily Mail, Borussia Dortmund have reignited their chase of Anthony Elanga. The Bundesliga giants are looking at the prospect of signing the homegrown Manchester United star on a cut-price deal, as the Red Devils are ready to let him leave.
Anthony Elanga showed plenty of promise to have a good career at Manchester United in the season prior to Erik ten Hag’s arrival. The Dutch manager has barely used the winger, thus giving out the feeling he does not count the Swedish international as part of his plans.
With 26 appearances in all competitions last season and only 705 minutes last season, Elanga might need to play more. However, when given the opportunity, the Swedish winger disappointed, ending the season without a single goal.
Reports claimed Manchester United are ready to listen to offers close to £10 million for the winger. There were clubs interested in taking Elanga on loan in January. But the Red Devils were unwilling to let him leave. Ten Hag does not count the winger in his plans as he looks to build on his present attack force.
The arrival of Antony and the emergence of Alejandro Garnacho restricted Elanga from playing consistently. With Rashford set to sign a new deal, it is not easy to see the homegrown Manchester United star get regular minutes next season.
Borussia Dortmund, who were once keen on the player, have decided to reignite their interest in Elanga. The Bundesliga giants always look out for talented players with a younger profile, and Elanga fits that bill. They hope to bring the homegrown Manchester United star on a cut-price deal and develop him into a bonafide star.
Manchester United are willing to sell Elanga for £10 million or even less if a reasonable offer arrives. The Red Devils hope to replace several squad players with quality outlets, as they are negotiating with Chelsea for Mason Mount.
Elanga might choose to take on the Dortmund offer if it arrived. Many players have successfully revived their careers there, and he could do the same. The Bundesliga side will not think too much about shelling out the £10 million needed for the Swedish star and possibly look to profit in a few years.
