Aston Villa are ready to break the bank and trigger the €65 million release clause to acquire the services of Pau Torres.

According to Pedro Morata via COPE, Aston Villa are keen on having Pau Torres in their ranks and are ready to go all out to acquire his services. The Spain international has been on their radar for a while now, and they are ready to trigger his release clause, worth €65 million.

Torres has come through the ranks at Villarreal and managed to establish himself as a regular in their first team. He has been the mainstay of their defence in recent years. The 26-year-old has been amongst the best defenders in La Liga, and there are quite a few clubs keen on having him in their ranks.

While Torres has only one year left on his deal, Villarreal do not really have much to worry about as the player will not leave them for free next season. Torres will only part ways with his childhood club in a situation where the Yellow Submarine receive compensation.

There is a €65 million release clause in his contract, and it might be the only way to sign him in the ongoing summer. With a lot of clubs interested in the 26-year-old, there is a high possibility that the clause is triggered ahead of next season. The likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich are keen on having the Spain international in their ranks. However, they are yet to make any concrete moves.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa, who have been interested in his services of late, are ready to trigger his release clause. Unai Emery has done wonders since taking charge of the English club. He has managed to guide them to Europe and is now keen on strengthening his squad ahead of next season.

Emery is keen on bolstering his defence and has his eyes set on Torres, who has worked with him in the past. The player has done wonders for the Spanish manager back in the day, and Emery believes he could help them take the next step.

As a result, the Premier League club are ready to go all out for his services. Even the player might be open to the idea of joining Aston Villa given his history with their manager. So the Villans remain the front-runners to sign the Spanish international.
