Manchester United hold meeting with Andre Onana

Manchester United have reportedly held a meeting with the agent of Andre Onana with the view of signing the goalkeeper to replace David de Gea.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed Manchester United had directly met with Albert Botines, the agent of Andre Onana. The Red Devils have entered the market for a new goalkeeper as David de Gea inches closer to the exit door. The Inter Milan star would cost €50 million, including add-ons.

Manchester United have some key transfer decisions on their hands as they look to prioritise their important targets. Erik ten Hag had set out to sign a striker and midfielder on priority. But things took a different turn as the window progressed.

Now, they are chasing Mason Mount’s signature and await Chelsea’s answer after lodging a third bid. However, a new problem has emerged at Old Trafford as David de Gea looks set to depart the club after failing to agree on a new contract.

There are still a few days left in the month. But the hopes of the Spaniard staying are fading fast. Hence, the priority has shifted towards signing a new goalkeeper, with some options already under discussion. Recently, Manchester United approached FC Porto for Diogo Costa, but his price tag may become a problem.

Similarly, they have kept tabs on David Raya, but there are uncertainties about the Brentford star’s price. Inter Milan star Andre Onana has now emerged as a favourite for Manchester United. But there are complicated talks ahead for the club to manoeuvre.

Chelsea have already bowed out of the race due to Inter Milan’s demands. The Nerazzurri reportedly want €50 million, including add-ons for the Cameroonian. Manchester United might consider the move if the conditions fit their requirement.

Fabrizio Romano claimed Manchester United had directly met with Onana’s agent Albert Botines. They should take an answer from the player before proceeding to hold discussions with Inter Milan about a sale.

Inter are open to offers that meet their valuations for the €50 million-rated Champions League finalist. Owing to their financial troubles, the sale of the goalkeeper will bring them massive profits considering the Cameroonian arrived on a free transfer.

Profile-wise, Onana fits ten Hag’s system like a glove, having worked with him at Ajax. Hence, if given a choice, the Manchester United manager might choose his former charge over the other mentioned targets if history is anything to go by.
